This is partly due to Barimpala, a specific field bean grass in the blend, which plays a crucial role in Water Saver. It performs excellently under dry conditions and retains its quality during winter. Barenbrug's special reed sedge grasses also contribute to its outstanding drought and heat tolerance.

Grass with deep rooting

Thanks to Water Saver's deep rooting, the grass draws water from deeper layers of the soil. The reed fescue in Water Saver can root to a depth of more than 60 cm and stores water and nutrients in its roots. So it builds up a buffer, so to speak, for drier times. Unlike regular grass plants that root more shallowly, reed fescue is a real survivor. Other grasses, for instance, are only able to draw water from the top layer. Not even extreme drought has to occur and regular grass plants already die. Reed fescue, with its deep roots, therefore has a huge advantage during dry periods.

How do I sow the Water Saver mixture?

Water Saver has a recommended sowing density of 20 grams per square metre. With a 5 kg pack, you can treat about 200 m².

How do I maintain the Water Saver mixture?

English ryegrass grows quickly, so regular mowing is important, especially during the growing season. Fertilise your lawn two to three times a year for optimal growth, but you will find that this grass seed mixture will require less fertilisation than regular grass seeds.
