Bare patches and weeds are disastrous for the sports field. Instead, these need to be as even as possible and able to take a beating. This mixture is ideal for repairing bald spots quickly. This allows you to quickly resume playing and training on a dense turf. Thanks to RPR technology, not only is recovery super-fast, but the quality of play also improves. The strong shoots of the RPR grasses create a turf that settles and forms dense sod like reinforced concrete.
For what purposes can I use the Barstadium RPR Sport GLS mixture?
Barstadium RPR contains Barenbrug's one and only ‘Regenerating Perennial Ryegrass’ technology. This English ryegrass ensures smooth recovery from damage, weed growth or bare spots in the turf. The recovery mixture has rock-solid properties that allow any sports field to be sown or recovered with it.
What are the characteristics of the Barstadium RPR Sport GLS mixture?
- High treading tolerance.
- Self-repairing and fast recovery from bare patches.
- Higher drought tolerance thanks to RPR technology.
- RPR has strong shoots that protect the grass like reinforced concrete.
- Can be sown as early as March into October.
How do I sow the Barstadium RPR Sport GLS mixture?
When laying, it is important to dig, weed and level the soil. The seeds can then be spread at a sowing density of 2 to 2.5 kg/100 m². These should then be lightly raked in. The same seeding density can be maintained in recovery. Instead of digging, it is advisable to mow and scarify the turf though. Even after spreading the seeds, it is advisable to rake them lightly to improve contact with the soil. In both cases, keep the soil slightly moist for the first few weeks to activate germination.
How do I maintain the Barstadium RPR Sport GLS mixture?
Sports fields also require regular maintenance. The growth rate of ryegrass is often higher than that of other grasses. During the growing season, mowing can therefore be done once a week at a cutting height from 2 centimetres. Regular scarifying or aerating keeps the roots healthy and also makes the grass less likely to be kicked out of the field during intense duels on the playing field!
